These terms govern your use of Adventure Codex (the “Service”), a tracker for tabletop role-playing games available as a website and mobile app. By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
The service
Adventure Codex helps you and your party track characters, hit points, consumables, currency, and shared maps during a game session. We provide the Service as-is and may update, change, or discontinue features at any time.
Your account
- You can use the Service as a guest with data stored locally, or sign in with email to sync across devices.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in email and any party invite links secure.
- You must be old enough in your jurisdiction to enter into a contract (typically 13 or older, with parental consent where required).
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service, infringe others’ rights, or violate these terms.
Subscriptions
- Some features (such as map uploads) require a paid subscription tied to a party (“table”).
- Web subscriptions are billed by Stripe. iOS subscriptions are billed by Apple. Android subscriptions are billed by Google.
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before renewal.
- Cancel anytime through the platform you used to subscribe (Stripe Customer Portal, Apple Settings, or Google Play). Cancellation stops the next renewal; the current period continues until it expires.
- Refunds are handled by the billing platform under their respective policies. We don’t process refunds directly for App Store or Play Store purchases.
- Prices, terms, and feature availability may change. Material changes will take effect at the start of the next billing period after notice.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harass, harm, or impersonate others.
- Upload content you don’t have the right to share, including copyrighted maps or images you don’t own or license.
- Attempt to break, probe, or circumvent security or rate limits.
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications.
- Reverse engineer or scrape the Service except as permitted by law.
Your content
Characters, party data, and uploaded maps remain yours. You grant us a limited license to store, display, and serve your content for the sole purpose of operating the Service for you and the parties you participate in. Deleting content removes that license.
You are solely responsible for the content you upload. If you receive a credible claim that content you uploaded infringes someone else’s rights, we may remove it.
Our content
The Adventure Codex name, logo, and software are owned by us and protected by copyright and trademark law. These terms don’t grant you any rights to use them outside the Service.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently retain your data. Back up anything you can’t afford to lose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Adventure Codex and its operators won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of USD $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Adventure Codex against claims arising from your content or your violation of these terms.
Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or use the Service in a way that creates risk for us or other users. The sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, liability, governing law) will continue to apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to that jurisdiction. (Jurisdiction to be confirmed once business registration is complete.)
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
