A real game rarely happens on one screen. A player might track on a phone at the table and review on a laptop between sessions. A DM might run from a tablet while everyone else is on their own device. Running smoothly across devices comes down to two features: syncing one character to all of your own devices, and sharing a Table so the group stays aligned.
Same character, every device
When you sign in, your character stops being tied to a single device. Sign in on your phone, your tablet, and the web app with the same email, and the same character is on all three. Update HP in a fight on your phone, and the tablet you left on the table shows the new value too. There is no manual export or file to pass around.
Sign-in is passwordless. You enter your email, tap a one-time magic link, and you are in. If you started as a guest, that character comes with you into the account, so nothing you tracked before signing in is lost.
The whole party, one Table
Personal characters are private to each player. What the group shares is a Table: a party space with a shared loot pool, a shared currency pool, and an audit log of item movement. Everyone joins the same Table from their own device, and shared changes reach the whole party.
This is what lets the DM hand out treasure once and have it appear for every player, or lets any player log a coin split that the rest of the group sees immediately, whether they are on iOS, Android, or the web.
Setting it up
- Sign in with a magic link on your main device.
- Install the app or open adventurecodex.app on your other devices and sign in with the same email.
- Create or join a Table for your group.
- Play from whichever device is in front of you.
The character tracker and cross-device sync are free forever. Shared Tables (with the shared loot and currency pools) are part of the subscription, and when any one player at a Table subscribes, the whole party gets access while it is active.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account to sync across devices?
Yes. Solo tracking on one device needs no account, but syncing the same character to a second device requires signing in. Sign-in is a passwordless magic link, so there is nothing to remember.
Can the DM and players use different devices?
Yes. Each person uses their own phone, tablet, or the web app. Personal characters stay private to each player, while a shared Table keeps the party’s loot and currency in sync across everyone.
Does it work on both iOS and Android at the same time?
Yes. Adventure Codex runs on web, iOS, and Android, and the same account syncs across all of them. A player on an iPhone and a player on Android share the same Table without issue.
